Cohesion in your work

How hard can it be to make sense of your own creative work?

When I do anything that requires something genuine from me, such as writing, taking photos, or even painting, inspiration comes fast, or in my case, the lack of need for inspiration comes fast because it's easy for me to just sit down and start, no matter the medium. I don't want to come across as overconfident, which I can assure you, I am not, and by no means i think my work is great, or even decent. But I can create.

That, for me is the easy part, and I don't know but I get the feeling that it may be the case for many photographers as well, especially if you're like me and don't care much about a perfect landscape or studio portraiture.

Building a narrative or story around your work is so much harder, but I feel is crucial to making cohesive work.

And why cohesive work is of any relevance to you? Well it might not be, but if photography to you is more than just LCS (Lighting, Composition, Subject) then you also feel LCS is just an output, but what's more interesting is meaning behind a work. It's almost as if you through more dimensions to LCS, throw an M in there for meaning, o N for narrative A for Arc, or I for Idea.

I can appreciate a good individual photo, for example think of Martin Parr, sure his photos are nice if you like candid photography, or color saturation, but to me what drives his work is the concept of leisure, how people relax and enjoy and how they choose to spend their free time. That's a thread that ties down a body of work. That's the hard part I'm talking about.

Sure in retrospect it makes sense, once the work is done, but how to build a thread from nothing? that connects to you personally and that will help keep a creative momentum in an orderly march forward.

I think it might be, Time, Intention, Trial and Introspection (Or TITI for short) I'm not even playing.

This is the only acronym I'm following for now.
